Road Trips
In August 2007, we attended a Winfield Touchdown Club Banquet where we had
dinner with Gene Stallings and Jay Barker! We were able to meet and get
autographs from the National Champion coach and quarterback!
For Thanksgiving 2006, Lane & Alan went to Gatlinburg, TN!...
We saw a little bit of snow,...
a lot of pretty areas in the Smoky Mountains,...
and even more Christmas decorations!...
We had a lot of fun driving through town looking at the Christmas lights!...
We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe,...
and played a round of night golf at the Davy Crockett putt-putt course!...
Lane even won a free game with a hole-in-one on the 18th hole!...
we went back for another round the next day!...
The course was very close to our hotel...
it's in the hotel's parking lot!...
We had so much fun on our Gatlinburg vacation!
In February 2006, Momma attended a Beth Moore conference in
Birmingham with her Bible study group from church!...
There were over 18,000 women in attendance, but Momma was lucky enough to meet &
talk to Beth!
We, along, with the Alabama Forestry Commission hosted a tour
of the farm in October 2005, showcasing "best practices" for land and timber management...
Landowners from across the state were invited to take a hayride to various stops
on the farm to see where we had made improvements,...
...and learned how to use some of the same practices on their property....
There were several sponsors who had demonstrations, and Alan even got to drive
this brand new tractor that was on display!!
In August 2005, we spent a weekend in Memphis! We visited the Peabody
ducks, ...
We had a great time seeing the lions, ...
In July 2005, we spent a weekend in New Orleans! We
went to the French Quarter, ate at Cafe du Monde, ...
and spent a day at the zoo!!...
The day we went happened to be the zoo's 120th birthday, and there were a lot of
fun animal performances, ...
like the elephant show (our favorite exhibit!)!!
We went to the movie set of The Dukes of Hazzard in New Orleans in January 2005.
We had lots of fun posing for pictures with the General Lee...
...and Rosco and Enos' patrol cars!
This was right before they filmed a crash scene...All the cars involved were
originally parked at this intersection, then the General Lee backed up about
four blocks, and the patrol cars each backed up about a block.
This photo was taken right before the patrol cars crashed head-on, and then the
General Lee broke them apart by driving between them...
Everything happened so fast! This photo was taken right after the General
Lee drove by, and now the patrol cars are turning around to chase it!
You can see how damaged the patrol cars were after the crash! The General
Lee was also smashed, and we were able to get a few orange pieces as souvenirs!
Between scenes, people with the movie swarmed around the General Lee. We
had no idea how many people it took to film car scenes!
Lane always wanted to be Daisy!
This was another chase scene, where the General was speeding down the street!
We went to the Memphis Zoo on Memorial Day 2004! We had
lots of fun seeing the animals and enjoying the sunny day!
While in Memphis, we also went to Beale Street, and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe!
We went to the Nichols Boyd Pumpkin Patch in Goshen Springs,
MS a few weeks before Halloween 2003 to pick out our own pumpkins!
While we were at the patch, we took a hayride around the
farm, where we were able to see (and pet!) lots of farm animals!
Finally! Everyone from Rose Towers is married!
Alan served as a groomsman in Stephen and Brandy's October '03 wedding in
Hartselle, AL.
Even though it's been 15 months, we're still in love as much
as the day that we got married!
In March '03, we spent a weekend at Pearl River Resort and Casino in Choctaw, MS, where we
visited the Hollywood Cars exhibit. 88 miles per hour, Alan!...
We also saw the General Lee! (By the way, the doors DID
open!)
Alan went to Ft Worth, Texas four times in 2002 for business trips. Lane
accompanied him three times for the action-packed 16 hour roundtrip drive.
We visited Sid & JD in Atlanta over '02 Labor Day
weekend. While we were there we toured the Coke Museum, the Atlanta
History Museum, the Swan House, and watched the laser show at Stone Mountain.
